WorldCat Discovery was added in 2014 to the current agreement between The Alberta Library and OCLC at no additional cost and for libraries subscribing direct with OCLC.
Subscriptions are available as part of the current Alberta group catalogue agreement to June 30, 2016 for those libraries not subscribing direct with OCLC. Available to all libraries as configured in TAL Online, i.e. individual academic libraries and regional public library systems and node libraries.
This subscription enhances the TAL Online view of your resources by the library configuring your library’s licensed resources to be included in searches.
WorldCat® Discovery Servicesis a new suite of cloud-based applications that brings FirstSearch® and WorldCat® Local services together. WorldCat Discovery Services enables people to discover more than 1.5 billion electronic, digital and physical resources in libraries around the world, through a single search of WorldCat and a central index representing nearly 2,000 e-content collections. Brought to you by The Alberta Library, and your library, WorldCat Discovery can consolidate access to all your library’s resources. Your previous WorldCat subscription on FirstSearch grows in value as you implement the expanded functionality of WorldCat Discovery.
