Please find below resource(s) available for Renewal
Renewal information is now ready for OUP products. Ten resources from OUP are a part of a joint Consortia Canada license and coordinated by BC ELN. Other OUP products not offered by ConCan may be offered by TAL; there are currently a number of TAL licensed OUP products outside of the Consortia Canada license and otehrs may be added if there is interest.
The products now available through TAL (via the Consortia Canada license) include:
Outside of Consortia Canada license, TAL may offer any OUP product for which there is demand amongst member libraries. Currently, the following additional OUP products are offered by TAL (not a part of Consortia Canada):
The BC Electronic Library Network (BC ELN) is the lead of this Consortia Canada (ConCan) license. TAL is processing renewals for TAL member libraries.
Product prices have increased around 5%. From OUP: ": "Oxford is holding any price increases to a reasonable level (0-5%) working hard to balance financial realities facing libraries with the continual investments Oxford needs to make in content updates and platform maintenance." Pricing is also dependent on populations/FTE, so these changes will also affect pricing.
There is one important change among the "top ten" list: Oxford is undergoing a transition to the Oxford Dictionaries Pro and Oxford Language Dictionaries Online products. The content will remain almost exactly the same, but the structure of the products, which have merged into one as Oxford Dictionaries, will see some changes. The foreign language content that was available through Oxford Language Dictionaries Online (OLDO) has now relaunched on the Oxford Dictionaries (OD) site.
This transition provides users with better, more updated functionality and brings all of the nine following languages onto one platform.
Arabic (Oxford Dictionaries – Arabic)
Chinese (Oxford Dictionaries – Chinese)
English (Oxford Dictionaries – English)
French (Oxford Dictionaries – French)
German (Oxford Dictionaries – German)
Italian (Oxford Dictionaries – Italian)
Portuguese (Oxford Dictionaries – Portuguese)
Russian (Oxford Dictionaries – Russian)
Spanish (Oxford Dictionaries – Spanish)
This change also means that the OLDO product is no longer available; instead, subscribers can get the language content of their choice through Oxford Dictionaries. There are options to subscribe by picking and choosing individual languages, or libraries can opt to subscribe to all nine languages in one package. Increasing discounts are applied to the pricing as more languages are included in a subscription. Subscribers will need to inform TAL of the languages each subscriber would like.
Oxford Dictionaries contains the content that was previously known as the products Oxford Dictionaries Online (ODO) and Oxford Dictionaries Pro (ODPro). This content is now Oxford Dictionaries – English within the larger Oxford Dictionaries product. For existing OLDO subscribers who wish to renew OLDO, Oxford Dictionaries, or Oxford Dictionaries Arabic, OCLC will request an exception to Oxford to ensure correct pricing for existing subscribers.
Late joins will be accepted; subscriptions will be pro-rated.
