This was a new joint offering last year by BC ELN, COPPUL and TAL, led by COPPUL for SAGE Knowledge Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA) ebooks. This program will run from August 15 2018 - August 14, 2019 AND January 1, 2019 - December 31, 2019. The August 15 start will allow members time for set up before the fall term starts. Also, the program running through the school year should provide the best possible indicators for purchasing.
BC ELN will be investigating other SAGE collections for purchase in the fall which TAL intends to offer.
The current August EBA participants should already have received emails from SAGE about selecting titles from their Aug 17 to 18 EBA (please let me know if you have not been contacted).
The offer closes July 6 for the August start and for a January start, the offer closes Dec 7. This gives institutions a month before the go-live date to load records and get discovery setup completed. SAGE provides support with setting up access, training, and marketing.
For current subscribers, SAGE works with institutions to supply title level statistics to help them identify the titles to add to their perpetual collection to the value of their EBA contribution before their term ends. Additional purchases are also possible. SAGE will provide detailed title usage analysis 2 months prior to the end of the access period for reference when selecting your titles. Usage may be pulled by the institution at any time via your SAGE customer account, SecureCenter.
This is a joint BC ELN, COPPUL, TAL offering. COPPUL is the lead.

MARC Records and COUNTER 4 reports are available, as well as registered DOIs for each title and chapter. SAGE helps with setup of Discovery systems. With your EBA commitment, you will receive training materials including user guides, videos, and live online training sessions highlighting the features and functionality for both librarians and end users.
Then, consult your usage report to finalize a customized package purchase no later than 30 days after your trial end date. Spend your deposit on the content you need and want. No hosting fees apply for the trial period. The prepaid price is then to be spent to purchase titles at the end of the EBA term. Schools have access to detailed statistics to decide what titles they want to purchase. The EBA differs from a DDA because it isn’t a usage trigger that determines the purchase of a book; librarians make the final decision what will be purchased. Use this pre-paid fund to purchase titles or collections, based on usage, of your choosing. Only the deposit amount worth of books needs to be purchased. The discount on titles is a minimum 10% discount (and increases depending on TAL, ELN, COPPUL participation).
New subscribers may join for January 1.
If you wish to participate in this EBA program, please contact Christa Foley by Friday, July 6, 2018.
The goal is to have participants set up during August in time for the fall term. This is not an automatic renewal - all current subscribers are asked to confirm renewal. Please repond by Friday, June 6.
