Dear TAL Online Users,
As of June 30th, 2016 TAL Online will be switching to a new custom built user interface as well a new search platform. Users can continue to request items as the new website is being refined.
TAL's aim is to create a TAL Online that is easy to use and enables library users to easily discover and request items not available at their local library.
Users looking to discover physical library holdings using TAL Online, will now be using an interface that facilitates a live search of the library collections of over 300 libraries across Alberta. This means that users will be able to accurately find and request items that are not currently held in their home catalogue.
Going forward the initial platform will not have some features including:
After the June 30 launch, we will assess the demand for the services listed above as well as other features and consider introducing them into the new platform.
As development progresses on the new interface we will be posting updates here at thealbertalibrary.ab.ca. Check back regularly to see previews on the new interface and other details as they become available.
If you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming changes with TAL Online we would love to hear from you. Please contact Brian Lin, IT Librarian at The Alberta Library at firstname.lastname@example.org.
