In 2000, TAL launched The Alberta Library Interface, later to be known as TAL Online. At the time it was revolutionary – a way for all libraries in Alberta to view the collections of other libraries in Alberta and place holds. But, as with all good things, times changed. New strategies appeared to manage ILL among the public libraries, and our collections grew increasingly electronic.
TAL Online was the product of a province-wide commitment to share resources among all TAL members. Members showed a willingness to collaborate to ensure that users could have access to material from all across the province, no matter where their home library was.
The TAL Board decided it was time to say “thanks for all the work you did” and let TAL Online retire gracefully, having served us long and well.
TAL Online will disappear March 31, 2022. TAL’s resource sharing principles remain the same. Please share this widely with your staff, so they can support the change with anyone who is still using it.
Regards,
Margaret
