Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Salary: Board-approved salary grid – 24 – 27 per hour

The Alberta Library (TAL) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Clerk to support our Finance team in providing accounting services to libraries across Alberta. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys bookkeeping, working with multiple clients, and contributing to organizations that strengthen Alberta’s library community.
About the Role
As an Accounting Clerk, you will maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of client libraries while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. Working closely with the CFO and finance team, you’ll play an important role in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter accounting transactions into QuickBooks Online for assigned clients
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end procedures
- Process accounts payable, including verifying invoices and supporting documentation
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain organized accounts payable records and filing systems
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile credit card transactions
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences
- Support team initiatives and maintain the confidentiality of financial information
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned to support organizational goals
Qualifications
Required
- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Business Administration
- Minimum two years of bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting recurring monthly deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Assets
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Professional Bookkeeper designation or equivalent
- Experience working in a nonprofit, public sector, or library environment
