In 1997, libraries in Alberta created The Alberta Library (TAL) – a not-for-profit corporation to address challenges and opportunities created by a changing information, economic and political environment. TAL continues to serve more than 300 libraries of all types working together to ensure the best possible service for library users. Members collaborate to take advantage of discounted purchasing, sharing resources and seeking new opportunities for reducing duplication and providing equitable access to information for communities in Alberta.
