This is a 20 minute lecture on the value and importance of telling your own story. Memoir writing or journaling is the best way to begin uncovering the undiscovered self. Indigenous Critical Consciousness theoretical and practical perspectives

Perspective and experiences of an Indigenous administrator and scholar in the context of higher education colonialism. Indigenous critical consciousness involves holistic and collective perspective involving a critical understanding of balancing Indigenous Knowledge and experiences with that of the western education structures. Kevin Brown will then speak to key points on what it might mean to heal from these oppressive systems, what a systemic redress might look like and how the role of critical consciousness can lead to creative and innovative solutions.​

Documenting Indigenous Knowledge with Community Recording

Participants will learn the basics of using a handheld audio recorder for community recording in this interactive session. Community recording projects can encompass language documentation, oral history, traditional songs and stories, cultural practices, and much more. What does a post-COVID economy look like? Will the new-normal be significantly different from the pre-COVID world? John Ferguson, Director of Macroeconomics at The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) will discuss these questions and assess the impact of the pandemic on the global economy. He will examine the ways in which COVID-19 has interacted with other major trends such as geopolitics, climate change, technology and the future of work and what the jobs of the future will entail. He will then discuss what this means for the future of education and learning, as all these trends align in the coming years.
