The Alberta Library (TAL) is a principles and member-driven organization guided by a Board of Directors and informed by the collective expertise of our members. TAL’s Board of Directors consists of 9 elected representatives from the membership, chosen at the Annual General Meeting, ensuring strong representation and accountability.

Working in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors provides strategic oversight, guiding high-level planning, financial stewardship, and organizational priorities. This leadership supports TAL’s skilled staff in maximizing impact, enabling the work they deliver to have outsized value relative to TAL’s size.

TAL’s governance is structured to promote transparency, accountability, and responsiveness, ensuring that TAL remains aligned with the needs of its members while adapting to an evolving library landscape. Principles and Policies can be found below.
